The healing practice of Christian Science was close to my heart early on, but it was 12 years into my legal career when I realized this was really my calling. As it happened, I was speaking with two clients about their case, and although a legal solution seemed clear, I felt compelled, instead, to pray. They also happened to be Christian Scientists and were up for a little prayer, and just like that, an angel message provided the right solution.
Having a desire to go into the public practice of Christian Science healing was one thing, but selling my law firm and giving up the career I was trained in was quite another. And yet, a year later, after many lessons purifying the heart, God provided a unique opportunity to serve as the Christian Science Committee on Publication for Colorado. Within a year I was advertising in the Journal as a full-time Christian Science Practitioner.
A quote that was given to me after I had lost a job many years ago has meant much to me over the years: “A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.” (Prov. 18:16) God has given each of us a gift, and by using that divine talent, we are brought into just the right place God has planned. Love’s holy purpose is perpetually and eternally active, and that message is continually being revealed to each one of us.
