I grew up in Spain. My youth was very normal, with a focus on music.

A friend invited me to a Christian Science testimony meeting. That started me on a spiritual journey that has taken me from merely believing in God to a growing understanding of God as Love itself, an all-powerful and ever-present Parent.

I am married and the father of 4 children. Although originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, I have been living with my family in Brussels, Belgium, in recent years.

I have always loved the Scriptures. Growing up in a Christian Science home, my family turned to the Bible daily for guidance, strength, and practical help.

When I was 21 I found myself in desperate straits. I was practically failing college, was addicted to drugs, in a bad marriage, alienated from any family and was on the verge of a serious mental breakdown. At that time, suicide seemed the only answer.

As a teen struggling with a view of God as punishing and blessing, I had two prevailing thoughts about God: anger and fear. When I was introduced to Christian Science, I did not expect to find solutions to those struggles in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures , but I was intrigued by the ideas that the book was a key to understanding the Bible (which I had grown up reading) and that it explained a divine Science of healing. It seemed reasonable to me that if something is actually a science, then any honest student can learn the rules, apply them, and find predictable results.

From an early age, I witnessed the undeniable power of Christian Science healing. One of my first experiences—instantaneously healing a close family friend of smoking—awakened in me a deep desire to help others through the practice of spiritual healing.

Growing up in London I attended Sunday School and joined The Mother Church as a teenager. After graduating from Cambridge University with a degree in engineering, I initially pursued a career in music.

Relying on God has always been natural for me. From an early age, I found that praying with simple truths I learned at home and in the Christian Science Sunday School brought healing and comfort for myself and others.

I am happy to have been raised in a Christian Science Sunday School, where I learned my relationship to God, our Father-Mother, was most important. I joined The Mother Church while a teenager and married at 19. Afterwards, my husband refused Christian Science in the home. Nine years later, I was faced with a frightening diagnosis but was healed overnight with the help of my mother’s prayerful support.
