I have always loved the Scriptures. Growing up in a Christian Science home, my family turned to the Bible daily for guidance, strength, and practical help.

My family was introduced to Christian Science after my great uncle was healed of a debilitating disease. From a young age, I felt a strong desire to travel and help others.

Deborah grew up in a Christian Science family where spiritual healing was considered just the normal way of handling life’s problems, including illness. Over the years she witnessed her parents quickly heal many childhood diseases and even the effects of accidents and illness in their pets.

Relying on God has always been natural for me. From an early age, I found that praying with simple truths I learned at home and in the Christian Science Sunday School brought healing and comfort for myself and others.

I was born in Italy and moved to Brazil with my family as a teenager. Ever since my childhood I had felt drawn to religion and spirituality even though my family was not very religious.  Brazil offered me the opportunity to pursue my spiritual search, and I was able to get better acquainted with the Bible, which I loved. Then in college I was introduced to Christian Science by the young man who later became my husband. I immediately felt it was the deep truth I was looking for.

I grew up in Minnesota, attended high school in Missouri and college in Iowa. After college, I took steps to align my first career decisions with my growing understanding of God. I felt it would be simpler and more efficient to let God lead those first few steps.

As a teen I began to feel a deep intuition about the presence and power of a profoundly loving God, which became increasingly important to me. "How does God know himself and all of his creation?" I wondered.

In the early 1990s I was healed quickly and decisively in Christian Science of a physical condition that had come to seem completely hopeless to me.  I had grown up as a Christian Scientist, and had seen many healings in my family of seven, so I knew the effectiveness of Christian Science prayer.

In one of my earliest memories, I’m climbing onto my dad’s lap. I wasn’t feeling well and though I don’t remember the exact words, we talked about how God’s love was all around me.
