Having been raised in Christian Science, I've long had a deep love for God and His unchanging divine laws. Studying Jesus' ministry and the scientific system of healing that he lived and that Mary Baker Eddy explains has always been balanced for me with an active life and lots of opportunities to live what I learn.

I am a Journal-listed Christian Science practitioner and teacher, who truly enjoys working for God. All of my life, I have looked for spiritual answers.

Participating in Christian Science class instruction is a natural step of progress in the practice of Christian Science healing.

Christian Science Sunday School is where young people learn about the Bible and Christian Science. They learn that God loves them and is a very present help all the time.

I learned of Christian Science in my middle teens. Our family came to it through a “miraculous” healing of a relative. I tested it, and was amazed at the consistent results. The Science proved to be genuinely scientific. Its practice became the basis of my studies and early career. That career took some radically different zigs and zags. From research director at an international relations and mediation institute in Italy, to labor organizer in New England, to foundation director, to university professor, to peace and civil rights activist, to founding an anti-racism project which was the basis of the YWCA “Social Justice Award”. The focus, the common denominator of these careers, was solving problems.

As a child growing up in Nevada and California, our family was very enterprising. Though we didn’t have a great deal materially, I watched as my mother’s brand new study of Christian Science began to bring much good into our lives.

I grew up in Minnesota, attended high school in Missouri and college in Iowa. After college, I took steps to align my first career decisions with my growing understanding of God. I felt it would be simpler and more efficient to let God lead those first few steps.

It was through the kindness of a neighbor, who drove my sister and me to Sunday School every week, that I was introduced to Christian Science and had a healing that changed my life. Neither of my parents were Christian Scientists, and I’d been born with a disfiguring skin condition.

I was born in Tokyo, but before starting to speak Japanese fluently, at age two my family moved to Mumbai, India. I consider my four years in India to be my most formative years.
