Margaret Rogers CSB

Christian Science and community service were strong influences in my home growing up.  I found fulfilling ways to help disadvantaged people over the years, but in college I became convinced that the best way to accomplish lasting justice and peace was Jesus’ path of breaking through the illusion of evil and many minds to the perfection of God’s spiritual universe.  I wanted to devote myself to Christian Science healing, but wasn’t sure how to launch. My next step was to become a Christian Science nurse.

What do counseling at-risk youth, running an emergency shelter, working as a wilderness ranger, teaching, and coordinating community outreach programs all have in common? These were jobs that led to my being in the full-time practice of Christian Science! Even as a child, lessons from the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy's writings had encouraged and shown me ways to help others.  Christian Science gave me a love for Christ Jesus; it also enabled me to follow him by showing how prayer transforms experience by transforming thought.  Whether confronting hostile situations, battling a forest fire, or facing physical challenges, prayer enabled me to get beyond the appearance of things to the spiritual truth that brought healing solutions. As God’s love became more real to me and the mental nature of experience became more apparent, so did opportunities to heal.

I am a fourth generation Christian Science practitioner living in Tennessee with my husband, Bill. Starting from the time I was in grade school, I had opportunities to put into practice the ideas that I was learning in the Christian Science Sunday school with classmates. I also discovered, during those years, that I loved the arts, especially visual art and singing. It became clear to me in my continuing study of Christian Science that God is the source of all good and that the talents I was expressing all came from infinite God, good. I knew the ability to heal also came from that same source of infinite Love and so it just felt natural to become a full-time Christian Science Practitioner in 2005. I have such deep gratitude for the healings my family and I have experienced, that I want to share with anyone seeking to have a better understanding of God and those who have questions about Christian Science.

Martha Johnsen Weingarten CSB

Christian Science has been important to me my whole life. Through study of the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, I have loved learning more about God--what He is and what He does, and what we are as His beloved children.  After taking class instruction as a college student, it was clear to me that practicing Christian Science was my goal.  After a few years of teaching  high school English, I left to practice Christian Science more fully, applying the laws of God to each call, and utilizing “the power of Truth over error,” (SH 111: 11) as issues came up in family,  church, and the community.  I became a Journal-listed practitioner in 2015, and went through Normal Class in 2021.

Katie Sue Brown CSB

My love for the teachings of Christian Science started at a young age, with Christian Science grandparents and parents who showed me that expressing good, or God, was my purpose. They also taught me to pray to God for healing.

Lisa Troseth, CSB

“What should I do with my life?” Lisa often wondered during her early twenties. She wasn’t sure where she was headed, but she was praying to be of service to humanity.

Alison J. Hughes, CS

Growing up going to the Christian Science Sunday School, surrounded by a family actively living the teachings of Christian Science, Alison and her siblings had quick healings of the usual childhood scrapes and illnesses. Her grandmother was a Christian Science practitioner for many years and so from a young age she felt that studying the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy’s book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, brought practical transformative results. She found getting to know God better and her relationship with the Divine naturally resulted in praying for and with others. She started receiving requests to pray for others while she was still leading her professional career, first in property (real estate) and then university-based adult education.

James Shepherd, CS

God’s love is for everyone, and a Christian Science lecture is a perfect setting to learn about God’s love and the healing that it brings.James has seen the healing effects of God’s love since he was a youngster, romping through the woods around his home with his three brothers. They had their share of scrapes and bruises which were quickly healed through prayer.
