Introduction to hybrid services guidelines

Last updated November 14, 2024 This is an introduction to the three copyright Guidelines linked to on the right side of this page, which include information about the use of copyrighted works, including music, in hybrid ( blended in-person and online ) church services (“Hybrid Services”). These Guidelines are based on US law and are therefore specifically directed to Churches of Christ, Scientist, Christian Science Societies, and Christian Science Organizations (“Branches”), as well as Christian Science Informal Groups (which are included in the term “Branches” only for purposes of these Hybrid Services Guidelines) located in the US.

Beliefs and teachings

Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of Christian Science, outlined a few brief tenets, rather than a creed or doctrinal beliefs, that summarize the essential points of Christian Science, all of which are rooted in the Bible.

What Really Matters

When finding solutions seems difficult, it’s often because we are having trouble knowing what matters. But the right kind of vision (hint: it's spiritual) allows us to discern what is actually important.

Christian Science Hymnal

Hymns are a source of encouragement, direction, and inspiration for people all over the world. Lifting voices in song can unite a congregation in gratitude and praise, and strengthen a sense of collective worship.

Living Truth— Jay and Tessa Frost

Tessa and Jay Frost have been writing and performing together since 2008 and deeply appreciate the spiritual growth that they've experienced in music. In 2012 they were thrilled to release Soulshine, their first inspirational music album, and shortly after published its sheet music in an effort to contribute new contemporary solos to the religious community.

Now living in Washington, DC, the Frosts continue to write solos and play at Christian Science church services while performing jazz, folk, and pop music.
