As a small child, I always felt at home in church. The more I learned about Christ Jesus and Mary Baker Eddy, the more they became close friends, whose teachings showed me how God’s love and tender care heal and protect me, and others, from illness and danger. Growing up, I had powerful proof that Christian Science heals, and is reliable and transformative. These healings, including a diagnosed case of strep throat, inspired me to help others realize the healing power that comes from an understanding of God as infinite, divine Principle, Love.

I’d love to meet you and cherish your spiritual search! I’m Suzanne Riedel, C.S.B., and I live and teach in the Austin, Texas area. I am guessing we may have some experiences in common . M ine have been varied. My marriage, five children, graduate school, and teaching high school and middle school for 20 years all were proving grounds for what I was learning about God and the great Love we all have.

Having been raised in Christian Science I always expected to become a practitioner. While my path may not have been as quick and direct as it probably has been for others, there were always signposts that I was on the right track.

The Science of Christianity challenges conventional views of prayer, presenting it not as blind faith, but as a scientific understanding of God’s ever-present love. Drawing from Jesus’ teachings in the Bible, as well as personal experiences practicing Christian Science, Emra illustrates how prayer can bring tangible healing and transformation.

At an early age I found Christian Science to be the surest Comforter.  It was my close companion from teen years into adulthood, healing and sustaining me during tough times and providing counsel and assurance through many decisions related to family, education, and career.

Like people of many faiths, Christian Scientists take the Golden Rule as basic ethics. It guides our relations with society, and while we can’t claim to have been always perfect in this regard, we feel strongly about respecting the rights of our neighbors and fellow citizens, and not imposing our own religious choices on others. Love for family, neighbor, community and the world is at the core of our values just as in most other churches.

I was born into a Christian family that I left at the age of 10. It wasn’t until years later that I began to believe there really is a superior being, God, who created the universe.

While growing up in California, my three siblings and I had many challenges but also many blessings. Our parents were dedicated church and community supporters and instilled in us the idea of living one's life in a way that would help the world. I had several meaningful healings in high school and college that cemented my desire to grow Spiritward through a study of the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy’s writings.
