Office of Language Services (OLS) Internship

Get a behind-the-scenes look at all that is involved in helping The Mother Church communicate and fulfill its Mission with the international field.

Gain experience working with a worldwide network of translators. Discover how spiritual sense guides through the completion of a project; learn to distinguish which parts of the original content need to be culturally adjusted so that the same message comes across in other languages.

Get to know all departments of The Mother Church through the work that the Office of Language Services (OLS) does for them.

Be exposed to thinking globally about Christian Science and its ability to heal. Practice Christian Science in a deadline-oriented setting.

Be introduced to and work regularly in various software programs, including Adobe products, Microsoft Office, G-Suite, memoQ and Plunet (our translations-specific software), and more.

Opportunities:

  • Help to expand and update non-English content available on the Church websites (christianscience.com & mbelibrary.org).

  • Work within a group that serves many different Church departments and a high variety of project-types, from email communications to live interpretation and subtitling.

  • Contribute to the resources supporting translations throughout the organization, such as our terminology databases, style guides, and internal websites for all TMC translators.

  • Assist in the development of new or improved workflows and processes using ever-changing technology tools.

Qualifications & Desired Qualities:

  • Native-level speaker of Italian, Japanese, Filipino, Chinese, and/or Russian preferred (along with a good mastery of English), but any candidate who is a native-level speaker of any language other than English will be warmly considered

  • Ability to understand nuance, context, and cultural overtones

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Ease with, and passion for, learning new computer software

  • Ability to use tact, diplomacy, professionalism, and keep confidentiality

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

  • Team skills

  • Good work ethic, punctuality

  • Spiritual intuition and approach to problem solving

Program Dates: May 25 - August 7, 2025

Compensation: Interns receive a $400/week living stipend. They will also receive a $900 grant upon completion of the internship. These payments are taxable benefits.
