James E Thurman Jr, CSB

I am a fourth-generation Christian Scientist. As with every student, there comes a time to make Christian Science truly one's own. When I was in high school, the example of my Sunday School teacher, a practitioner, played an important role in my own commitment to Christian Science. After graduation from Principia College, I received Primary class instruction. At that time, I was a partner in an advertising agency in Newport Beach, California. That year, my first patient, a staff member in a client's organization, who was not a Christian Scientist, asked me for treatment and was healed.

Christian Science Reading Rooms

Christian Science Reading Rooms are places of hope, where lives are changed. Similar to a library or bookstore, they offer a place for inspiration and prayer. Community spaces where many have been healed by studying the lessons of the Bible and nurturing a deeper connection with God.

Melanie Wahlberg, CS

Melanie's calendar is full for the 2025-2026 lecture season. Two influences that Melanie will never forget were the Christian Science Sunday School and a mom who turned to prayer and encouraged her to do the same. These influences showed her something of the reliability of God and spiritual inspiration, and trusting this helped her find her way growing up.

Mark Swinney CSB

I’ve always been struck by how Christian Science class instruction effectively rouses in people a deep hunger to understand how Christian healing works and how to bring healing to others. The practice of Christian Science healing is tangible evidence that the Comforter Jesus promised has indeed come again.

The Bible

The Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is the foundation for the theology and practice of Christian Science. For Mary Baker Eddy, Christian Science flowed out of a new understanding of the Bible, which illumined the divine laws behind spiritual healing.

Come to this fountain— Jay and Tessa Frost

Jay and Tessa explain the inspiration behind this new setting of a beloved hymn By Mary Baker Eddy.

Tessa and Jay Frost have been writing and performing together since 2008 and deeply appreciate the spiritual growth that they've experienced in music. In 2012 they were thrilled to release Soulshine, their first inspirational music album, and shortly after published its sheet music in an effort to contribute new contemporary solos to the religious community.

Now living in Washington, DC, the Frosts continue to write solos and play at Christian Science church services while performing jazz, folk, and pop music.
