Each summer, university students and recent grads intern with The Mother Church in Boston to gain professional experience, new friendships, and deepen their commitment to Christian Science. They bring fresh ideas and contribute unique skills to the Christian Science movement. We encourage anyone who considers themselves an active and engaged Christian Scientist to apply for this internship.
The 2027 summer internship program will run 11 weeks, from May 24th to August 6th. It will be fully in-person in Boston.
Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis from November 16, 2026, to March 22, 2027
What Do Interns Do?
Interns spend about 90% of their time working for a single church department and 10% of their time as a group. This dynamic structure allows them to explore the purpose and power of Church, as well as contribute to multiple areas of The Mother Church. During group time, they gain a deeper understanding of the full range of resources and programs that The Mother Church supports, as well as the movement's global reach.
What Kind of Work?
Internships are offered in a wide variety of study areas: product management, broadcasting and multimedia production, translation services, library science, editorial, and more. Ideally, each intern finds opportunities directly related to their field of study.
What Do Interns Do as a Group?
About 10% of the interns’ time is spent as a group where they:
Meet and learn from Church Officers and managers around the organization
Gain a greater understanding of church
Provide feedback on new resources and products
Support the organization through special projects
