Mary Baker Eddy Library Programs Intern

The Programs and Communications team at The Mary Baker Eddy Library is looking for an intern to be involved in community outreach, through support of its monthly Seekers and Scholars podcast and its One World summer program for youth and families.

The intern will learn about proposing topics for podcast episodes, as well as researching, developing, and producing them. An opportunity exists for the intern to propose and develop an episode of their own. Activities involved in this work include exploring the Library’s archival collections to find episode topics; outlining the structure for an effective podcast discussion; and participating in the editing of an episode, with an eye for clarity, meaningfulness, and listener accessibility.

The intern will also experience how, through the Library’s One World program, The Mother Church engages with its local community. This includes helping develop Library presentations that highlight global cultures and showcase the international journalism of The Christian Science Monitor, to reflect the Church’s worldwide embrace. In supporting One World, the intern will be involved in community outreach, assisting with the development of arts and crafts experiences, storytelling, and other enrichment opportunities that the program provides to attendees.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in media and community engagement, as well as an eagerness to demonstrate how the ideas and history of Christian Science can contribute in those areas. This requires expressing openness, grace, tact, and enthusiasm about engaging with the public. In particular, candidates should enjoy working with children and young people.
