Because God loves us — Rebecca Minor

Do you feel your store of love is running low?
Yet, everyone around you needs it, heaven knows.
You’ve been praying for the day
You’ll feel it coming back your way,
Like so many promises you’ve heard.
Well, if it’s true that our Creator is Love alone,
Then Love’s not something we must conjure on our own.
And it upholds us when we’re weak,
So we can turn the other cheek,
Confident that God fulfills His word.
Love comes to you straight from the source.
And it shines from you with effortless force,
Gracing all those you meet throughout your life,
Whether they’ve brought you blessings or strife.
You see, it can’t be depleted, so let’s be generous.
We love because God Loves us.
Have you ever gone astray and wound up lost?
Those promised pleasures let you down at quite a cost.
Well, the beauty of it is
He never dropped your hand from His.
You were guided home to open arms.
And no one’s ever left outside God’s tender care.
In the desert, in the depths His voice will call you there.
And if you listen and obey
His light will surely shine the way,
Leading you and shielding you from harm.
Love comes to you straight from the source.
And it shines from you with effortless force,
Gracing all those you meet throughout your life,
Whether they’ve brought you blessings or strife.
You see, it can’t be depleted, so let’s be generous.
We love because God Loves us.
And if it seems otherwise,
We only have to lift our eyes
And see that neither height nor depth,
Past or future, life or death
Can separate us from the Love of God.
Love comes to you straight from the source.
And it shines from you with effortless force,
Gracing all those you meet throughout your life,
Whether they’ve brought you blessings or strife.
You see, it can’t be depleted, so let’s be generous.
We love because God
We love because God
We love because God Loves us.

Listen to Rebecca share the inspiration behind Because God loves us.

Rebecca tells how she wrote this song based in the inspiration that came to her in response to a personal experience.

Rebecca is one of the two co-soloists at The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ Scientist, in Boston. She earned a voice performance degree from Ithaca College, and has sung in operas, musicals and concerts, primarily in New York State. She has also sung as a soloist in various Christian Science branches for over 11 years.

In recent years Rebecca discovered she had an affinity for writing music, and began to craft autobiographical songs about the ups and downs of urban life. This exploration, along with the years of exposure to sacred music led her naturally into composing inspirational music as well. She has since joined the inspirational music company, Watchfire Music, as a composer of sacred solos, and her sheet music and recordings of those solos can be found on www.watchfiremusic.com under the composers tab.

Rebecca is thrilled that three of these pieces have been performed as solos by Julia Wade at The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston. Rebecca has performed her music in the Watchfire Music listening room concert series, in church-sponsored musical programs, and in musically interactive lectures alongside Maryl Walters and Ginny Luedeman.
