Arriving for your free tour
Come walk through and learn about The Mother Church. Tours are free and open to all. Here’s what you need to know to plan your visit.
All tours begin in the Welcome Hall at the How Do You See the World? experience (210 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston, MA 02115)
Speak with a Host in the hall—they’ll help you get started.
No reservation or ticket is needed for individuals or small groups (fewer than 10).
During the tour
Tours last approximately 40 minutes.
You’ll walk a short distance across the Christian Science Plaza to enter The Mother Church.
Tours are wheelchair accessible.
Tours may be available in languages other than English.
You’ll see and learn about:
The Original Mother Church (1894): Italian mosaic floors, hand-carved birch pews, stained-glass windows depicting Biblical scenes, a historic pipe organ (rebuilt in 1950), and recently restored interiors.
The Mother Church Extension (1906): Distinctive Byzantine/Renaissance/Neoclassical architecture, a large dome with natural light, and the Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ with 13,384 pipes, which is one of the largest in the world.
