Outreach and Project Management Internship

International Service Department

What is The Mother Church doing to meet the needs of a growing global Christian Science movement?  What challenges are Christian Scientists facing and overcoming in other parts of the world? This internship will provide you an opportunity to learn how the organization coordinates its international activities and to help carry out a multifaceted project supporting members around the world.

The Mother Church’s International Service Department is looking for a globally-conscious individual who loves expressing the qualities of a Christian Science nurse, as Mary Baker Eddy describes in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: “The nurse should be cheerful, orderly, punctual, patient, full of faith, — receptive to Truth and Love.” (p.395:18) We’re looking for an intern who is passionate about the same thing we are: bringing healing to the world.

Opportunities:

  • Learn to apply project management skills and coordinate outreach to international Church members on specific topics relating to membership and access to Christian Science literature. Interact with international Communication Coordinators who support members in over 50 countries around the world.

  • Perform background research by using databases, reading reports, and consulting with employees throughout the organization.

  • Assist with outreach to Church members by making international calls and drafting written correspondence.

  • Learn how the software Salesforce and Enterprise support the operations of the organization.

  • Observe how different departments across the organization interact in support of international activity.

Qualifications & Desired Qualities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Attitude of service; desire to prayerfully approach challenges.

  • Interest in project management and experience carrying out a successful school or work project from beginning to end.

  • Ability to set reasonable goals, stay organized, and maintain an attention to detail throughout a project.

  • Ease working independently and as a member of a team.

  • Interest in conducting research and ability to organize and document findings.

  • Desire to do your best and learn new skills; flexibility and humility.
