I was born and raised in the Chicago area, in a family dedicated to the teachings and practice of Christian Science. In my senior year in college I applied for the Chaplain Training Program at The Mother Church in Boston, and during interviews with various church officers, including The Christian Science Board of Directors, I realized that I wanted to dedicate my life to serving the Cause in every possible way, the most important one of which would be through the healing ministry of the public practice. That summer after graduation, during primary class instruction I knew that I was making the right decision!

After serving 10 years as a chaplain in the United States Army, with my wife and 2 small children I left the military to pursue my heart’s desire of entering the public healing practice. The financial challenge was intimidating, so much so that I got to the point of giving up on everything, including God and Christian Science! It was then, in the darkest hour of my life, that I finally realized it had never been about me, about what I wanted, no matter how well meaning… it was about God, and what He wanted. I felt His grace, saving me, saving my family, and directing me forward. . . on His terms.  I have held several offices within The Mother Church over the past 40+ years… but the office of healer stands above them all. Normal class came in 1988. I teach in the Boston area.
