Growing up in a Christian Science family, I experienced healing and felt God’s love as reality early and often. I began to pray for myself and find healing in high school and college athletics. In college I became impressed with the complexity of the world’s problems and wondered if Christian Science was really the answer. It wasn’t long, though, before my desire to help others and the frustration with the answers I was getting brought me back to Christian Science with greater commitment. When I went through Primary class Instruction in 1975, I was teaching high school, newly married, and expecting the first of our two children. The application of the tools of Christian Science treatment gained in class has led me and blessed our family ever since, guiding me through graduate study at Harvard, and ten years as a Dean at Principia College. After wrestling with doubts, I jumped into the full-time practice of Christian Science in the Fall of 1989. I wouldn’t trade the experience of watching omnipotent Love at work for anything. I have been serving on the Board of Lectureship since 1997 and became a teacher in 2006.
Each of us has a holy purpose which naturally includes understanding and utilizing divine law. Class instruction gives us the tools to be effective healers and problem solvers in our world. What we do with them depends on our willingness to live Love.
