Do With Me, God, According To Your Goodness, by Sigfrid Karg-Elert
Psalm Prelude Set 1, Op. 32: No. 2, by Herbert Howells

Hymn 383

Mary W. Hale*

Whatever dims thy sense of truth
Or stains thy purity,
Though light as breath of summer air,
O count it sin to thee.

Preserve the tablet of thy thoughts
From every blemish free,
For our Redeemer's holy faith
Its temple makes with thee.

And pray of God, that grace be given
To tread the narrow way:
How dark soever it may seem,
It leads to cloudless day.

*As noted in the 1932 hymnal, slight changes to the words were made.

Hymn 109

Maria Louise Baum

Here, O God, Thy healing presence
Lifts our thoughts from self and sin,
Fills with light their hidden places,
When Thy love is welcomed in.
Here Thy tender sweet persuasions
Turn us home to heavenly ways,
While our hearts, unsealed, adoring,
Pour the fragrance of Thy praise.

Reverent lives unveil Thy beauty,
Faithful witness bear of Thee;
Binding up the broken-hearted,
We reflect Thy radiancy.
So may deeper consecration
Show Thee forth in healing's sign,
Till through joyful self-surrender
We in Love's pure likeness shine.

Hymn 554

Carol Norton. Alt.

One by one, pure thoughts and holy
Lift us out of self and sin;
One by one, bright gleams of glory
Show the goal we all will win.
One by one, our trusts are strengthened,
As our lives to God we give;
One by one, our days are lengthened,
While in Love we move and live.

One by one, our aims grow purer,
As our deeds reflect our God;
One by one, our path grows clearer,
Guided by Love's staff and rod.
One by one, our thoughts move forward
To the time by prophets told;
One by one, our lives move homeward
Singing of one Lord, one fold.

Then within Love's ever-presence
We shall live amid its light,
Knowing well that holy brilliance
Which is called the Infinite.
Know the glories of God's kingdom,
Hear the music Spirit sings,
Be at one with that great Wisdom
From which all creation springs.

Poem Notes: Psalms 23:4 / John 10:16 / Acts 17:28. The words of this hymn first appeared as a poem in the January 1902 issue of The Christian Science Journal.
