For much of my life I’ve had a desire to serve others.  This desire led to activities like tutoring, coaching, teaching Sunday School as well as serving in the Army.  Each of these activities, but specifically the military service, significantly shaped my understanding of God and His unbreakable divine laws.  It was there that I began to understand that this prayer-based system of healing that Mary Baker Eddy discovered and named Christian Science is the most significant thing in the world, for all mankind.

I genuinely feel that this Science of Christ healing is perfectly poised to help humanity today, liberating it from the oppressive nature of materialism and mortality with its sickness, sin and death.  Since 2008, I have dedicated my full time and attention to the healing practice of Christian Science and am now teaching students how to effectively pray for themselves and others.  During these past years dedicated to Christian Science it is the consistency of healing through prayer that has stood out to me above all else.

As a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, I have shared the message of God’s healing and transforming love with diverse audiences in many parts of the world, discussing how to detect and overcome mental ambushes, shedding the burdensome weight of fear and doubt, as well as opening the doors to see the spiritual nature of life, health and prosperity.  Today my lectures are designed to help newcomers and long-time members better understand Christian Science and the significance of its discovery and its discoverer, Mary Baker Eddy.

My wife, Darci, and I live in Boise, Idaho.

The law of harmony and Christian Science healing

(This lecture can be adapted for a prison, military, or classroom audience.)

I didn’t know how I was going to make it another day, let alone another seven weeks. I had just finished my first week of Army Ranger School--an intense combat leadership course which has been called "the most physically and mentally demanding leadership school the Army has to offer." I was exhausted and had no idea how I could continue.

But then, during a non-denominational Christian church service, something happened. As we sang hymns together, I felt the presence of Love. I’d learned from reading the Bible that God is Love, and what I felt during that service was definitely divine. It was the all-embracing presence of God, and it reminded me that I wasn’t on my own having to muscle my way forward. God, Love itself, was actually leading and supporting me. This new understanding enabled me to complete Ranger School successfully.

What I felt that day wasn’t just something special for me, but a divine law or rule that governs all our lives, just like the principles of math unfailingly govern the relationships between numbers. It was God’s law of harmony. “Harmony” may be a word that you’re used to hearing about in relation to music, but it’s a good word to characterize the effects of God’s presence in our lives, too. As we become aware of Love’s operation, Love’s ongoing care for us, we feel the presence and power of this harmony, adjusting and changing things for the better.

And this law is reliable, as I’ve found in my study and practice of Christian Science. In fact, we can each prove its effects in our lives. I’ll share more in my lecture about how we can do this consistently--and find healing.
