I was raised in the suburbs of Chicago, and enjoyed a very happy upbringing. I credit my parents, through their practice and understanding of Christian Science, with instilling in me a love for God and church. From an early age, I felt a draw to God and an urge to do some daily good for Him.

After college, I worked as a mechanical engineer. As an avid outdoors man, I found working in an office all day did not suit my desire to be in more natural surroundings. So, in 1977, I left Illinois and moved to Alaska. I felt right at home in its pristine setting, its majestic scenery, and its free thinking, independent spirit.

Home and family have always been very important to my wife and me. We have been blessed with three children, who are now grown with families of their own.

One of the defining moments in my life was working as a counselor at a Christian Science camp. The love I felt and the healings I witnessed convinced me to make Christian Science my own.

I became a Journal-listed practitioner in 1990, which, in a very natural way, led to Normal Class in 1994. Over the years, I have participated in every facet of branch church work. After serving as the Committee on Publication for Alaska for five years, I then worked in Washington, DC for three years for The Mother Church’s Federal Office of Committee on Publication. I love the way the practice and teaching require consistent spiritual growth.
