New ways to share healing articles

Updated:  April 7, 2020

Sharing or posting content from The Mother Church or The Christian Science Publishing Society in response to the coronavirus

The Mother Church and The Christian Science Publishing Society are adjusting permissions policies to enable churches, societies, Reading Rooms, etc., to offer healing content directly to their communities. Until Sept. 30, 2020, the following permission guidelines apply to content related to coronavirus from The Christian Science Monitor, Sentinel, Journal, Heralds, and Daily Lift.

PLEASE NOTE: These guidelines apply only to content that is shared with individuals and posted on social media or personal/church blogs. If you are considering submitting content to a local newspaper or other publication, please be in touch with your Committee on Publication. (Click here to find your local Committee on Publication).

  • Twenty-five additional "deep links" to JSH-Online content: You’re welcome to place on your site, social media account, or blog up to twenty-five “deep links” to any JSH-Online articles that meet your community’s needs (not limited to the paywall-free articles listed above).

    • To create a “deep link” go to JSH-Online and share the article you want to use; then copy the provided link.

    • Significant amounts of content from JSH-Online will continue to be paywall-free, including the Sentinel Watch podcast and TeenConnect.

  • Ten full-text articles: You’re welcome to reprint or post on your site or blog the full text or audio of up to ten pieces of content (not limited to paywall-free articles listed above)

    • To offer this content with love-your-neighbor transparency and clear paths to further resources, each reprinted or posted full-text article should include:

      • Full name of the source publication (e.g. Christian Science Sentinel), the author’s name, and a direct link to the article.

      • A “for more information” or “for more ideas like this” link to,, or

      • Only text, not photos, since photos may be subject to third-party copyright.

      • For copyright reasons, only articles appearing on the Monitor’s paywall-free coronavirus coverage page may be reprinted or reposted, except as permitted in the Monitor's general copyright Terms.

A note on transparency: It’s important for content from the “organs of this Church” (Church Manual, p. 44) to be clearly identified for several reasons:

  • The Christian Science Sentinel, Journal, Herald, and Monitor have a century-plus record of bearing witness to healing in the world. Acknowledging this record helps reassure readers of the legitimacy of the ideas presented in an article — and provides a pathway for further exploration of the scientific system behind the article.

  • Identifying content correctly and leading readers to Mother Church sites offers opportunities to connect with other resources, including church services, etc.

  • Authors of the content intended their ideas and healings to be shared in official Church publications. We want to honor that intention.

PLEASE NOTE:  These expanded guidelines are meant to supplement existing permissions guidelines for each publication rather than replace them. Please contact with any questions.
