Entering the Public Practice

The work of healing, in the Science of Mind, is the most sacred and salutary power which can be wielded. My Christian students, impressed with the true sense of the great work before them, enter this strait and narrow path, and work conscientiously.

—Mary Baker Eddy, Retrospection and Introspection, pp. 54–55

A ministry and a career

In a world of suffering and sorrow, a consecrated Christian healer is needed today more than ever. As you are daily striving to prove in your own life that “Christian Science heals the sick quickly and wholly” (The Manual of The Mother Church, p. 92), you’ll want to consider the full-time healing ministry of a Christian Science practitioner. This joyful, rewarding, and fulfilling vocation develops naturally out of living the two great commandments given to us by Jesus: loving God, and loving our neighbor as ourselves (see Mark 12:28-31).

Members of The Mother Church who have completed Primary class instruction in Christian Science can apply to advertise in The Christian Science Journal as a full-time practitioner. If you are thinking about this step, we’d love to hear from you and discuss any questions you might have.

When you’re ready to make this commitment, you’ll have established a practice in your community where you are available to respond to those interested in receiving Christian Science treatment. You can download and fill in the form on this page. Email it as an attachment to applications@csps.com, or mail the completed application to the address below (also found on form). You’ll be contacted during the review process of the application, but you’re welcome to be in touch with us at any time.
