Sir, Thank you for your article "Power of prayer offered as a cure" (Nelson Mail, July 25). While I certainly appreciate the perspective of the individuals interviewed, based on their experiences with prayer, my own experience with Christian Science has resulted in positive healings.
I, and Christian Scientists I know, have experienced spiritual growth while being cured of various health challenges through prayer alone. And while these instances of healing through prayer may be categorised as anecdotal, they nevertheless provide meaningful evidence to me of the healing Christ at work in individual lives today.
In fact, I've been able to effectively and consistently rely on this Bible-based system of healing - modelled after Christ Jesus' healing ministry - for cure of a wide range of ailments throughout my life.
As a child, I partly severed my foot and my mother was advised by doctors to purchase a car as I ``would never walk again''. With Christian Science prayer treatment, I was walking within two weeks. My son, after being diagnosed as having third-degree burns to his foot by a doctor at the scene, was healed overnight - without any scarring whatsoever. This prayer-based healing was acknowledged by the doctor in question, the following day.
