Hi all,I would like to know if anybody out there has ever been on a medication that the medical world would describe as vital for life ? If so, I am keen to learn how you [ or people you know ] were able to give up the medication and trust in CS for life.

Hi all,I would like to know if anybody out there has ever been on a medication that the medical world would describe as vital for life ? If so, I am keen to learn how you [ or people you know ] were able to give up the medication and trust in CS for life.
Arvid, i don't know where you are in your understanding of CS, but there are, of course, many healing testimonies in the Christian Science publications, as well as the textbook by Mary Baker Eddy, that have been given over many years, where people have been healed of various incurable illnesses when they turned completely to CS to rely on Spiritual, rather than material means for healing; and have stopped using the medication that had been advised by their doctors.
I've been fortunate enough to have been brought up in CS, but let it drop for a number of years, not "finding" it again until i was in my 30's, after a long period of excessive activities! While not necessarily the fastest in re-embracing it, my studies became more and more successful in the many healings i had.
About 4 years ago, i became very ill, and did not seek medical help, but worked with a practitioner in maintaining my strength. After a year, many friends insisted i seek medical advice, and it was then confirmed that i was HIV+.
At that point, i did accept the medication that was being offered. Pills were required, as were ointments to treat a skin condition. I did not want to give up my reliance that God was the true source of my being, and used CS prayers as a means of pushing my desire to seek the Truth thru Gods' love and protection. The skin condition was cleared quickly (within a couple of weeks) and from then on, my health improved dramatically. My doctor and friends said, miraculously.
Obviously, the medical community would take complete claim for these effects, BUT, the doctor i have been seeing over the past 4 years has, within the first year, reduced my visits to once a year. Furthermore, he has, at every meeting, responded with surprise that i could appear so completely free and healthy, and always says that whatever i'm doing, keep it up!
So, how do i rely on the 5 small pills that i take each day? As little as possible. I try to keep any idea of medication out of my thoughts, and direct my reliance only on God. Previously, in my life, i had never used any medication for anything. And other than these 5 pills, there is no other material remedy taken.
The world view on certain conditions can be quite overpowering (Animal Magnetism) and i look forward to gaining a stronger view of my true being in order to rise beyond this material reliance.
Mrs Eddy states (Science & Health, page 444)..."In some way, sooner or later, all must rise superior to materiality, and suffering is oft the divine agent in this elevation.".... and further on...."If Christian Scientists ever fail to receive aid from other Scientists, - their brethren upon whom they may call, -God will still guide them into the right use of temporary and eternal means."

Dear anon, thanks for your reply to my question . Your personal situation and your progress with CS was very encouraging. We are also progressing well with our situation and as God leads us we will know when to give away the so called life saving medication for perfect LIFE in GOD. I wish you all the best and thank you kindly for your inspiring story. Arvid

In the back of Science and Health are many healings of people who were relying on medicines for life. Usually they started reading Science and Health, felt a freeing inspiration, set aside the medicine and found no ill affect and complete healing. You will know when you feel comfortable throwing out the medicine, when an inspiration reveals your freedom. Let God lead you.:)
