I don't know if this is the right kind of church to ask this, but I need some advice about prayers. I know the Bible says 'Ask and you shall receive' and that faith can move mountains. I do have faith but it seems it is not working.
Is there some special prayer that is for being healed? I have prayed a lot one or two hours a day most days for months but no help with it so far. I have heard from lots of people being healed of all types of sickness and even raising dead by prayers, but it is not working for me. What kind of prayer should I say? Can you help with advice please?
Thank you and may God be with you always.

Ben.

Dear Ben,
I'm so glad you found this web site! Christian Science is all about healing. It is explained in a book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy. So my "advice" is to get that book. You can read it online -- go to the Publications tab on the home page and click on Mary Baker Eddy. You'll see the first chapter, entitled "Prayer."

My simple response to your question is that rather than "saying" a prayer, I find prayer to be more about "listening" for God's loving guidance and wisdom. So, open your heart and listen!

Please come back to share more questions and your progress : )
With love,
Pamela

Another great resource is a Christian Science practitioner, who's job is to help others find healing through prayer. To find a practitioner, click on the Healing tab and then select "Christian Science Practitioners". Click on the hotlink for The Christian Science Journal. In the new page that pops up, click on Online Directory of Practitioners and Teachers and then on Search for Christian Science practitioners and teachers. The search engine is wonky at best but keep fiddling till you get the listing. Practitioners are listed geographically.

RF1499, you are opening your heart to God. Your healing is sure. Keep listening. He is opening the way and you are entering in. Your freedom is assured. Love is the law of your being. Rejoice!

Hi Ben,

Well, I'm certainly glad you found this wonderful website! There are so many articles and testimonies of healing here, which I'm sure will inspire you. I certainly encourage you too, along with Pamela (and everyone else on the site) to study Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy - it is literally a key which unlocks the power of the Bible!

I have already shared this wonderful article here, from a sister website, www.spirituality.com, but as it concerns a young woman who found that her prayers were not working and who then found a practical Christianity and effective prayer when she was introduced to Science and Health, here it is again:

Now my heart sings (http://www.spirituality.com/tte/article_display.jhtml?ElementId=/repositories/shcomarticle/Apr2006/1144165833.xml&ElementName=Now%20my%20heart%20sings)

You will go forward. God (Love) will guide you!

Ben,
When a healing isn't coming quickly, or when it seems as you say that prayer isn't working, I remember something I heard on a Christian Science Sentinel radio program.

I'm sorry that I don't remember who the speaker was so I can't give proper credit, but the thought continues to help me.

If you had a large tree to chop down in your yard and picked up the axe and swung it once or twice every day, and it ended up taking a hundred days for the tree to fall, it isn't just the chopping you did on the hundredth day that brought the tree down. Each chop, right from day one contributed.

So, remember that your prayer IS working. Every prayer is effective, even when we don't see the outcome we were expecting.

Others have already posted some wonderful resources, I too am glad you brought your question to this forum.

You don't need hours of prayers, they are meaningless.
All you need is: believe in everything JC said and hold on to it no matter what.
