A little while ago I downloaded and printed the latest installment of My Bible Lesson (http://www.mybiblelesson.com). I just want to express my appreciation for this newest weekly lesson format, which I have subscribed to since its introduction. Though it is intended for young people, I find, as someone with more life experience under my belt, that it really opens up the weekly lesson for me as well.

The features I particularly like are the Bible (and occasional S&H) notes, which put many passages in their historical context; the maps; the alternate translations of selected Bible passages; and the colorful layout which makes it just plain fun to pick up and read.

I wish I had this when I was a kid, but I'm grateful to have it now. I'm curious, are there many other adults who are using My Bible Lesson?

This latest format addition of "mybiblelesson" to our Bible Lesson study is a blessing, for us all who are "young@heart", ageless Christian Scientists.:)

Hi Jim....I, too, (as a 50-something) subscribe to my bible lesson and just love everything about it....the definitions (always food for thought to ponder the meaning once again), the historical timelines and stories, the different translations used for Bible passages.....it's all wonderful!

I think this thread should merge with the one about English Bible Translations. It supports the fact that the KJV is difficlut to read - even for native English speakers. Even some of MBE's writings are difficult enough for native English speakers so much so that definitions must be given.

I'm what you might call a "senior citizen" and I subscribe to My Bible Lesson. I enjoy the Lesson much more now - I love the explanations, background on the Bible stories, and especially the humor! :D

I still love the King James version of the Bible, but I like seeing samples from other translations, too. It's all very enriching, I think.

As with some of the others of us, I too am of the "senior" generation - but I LOVE, My Bible Lesson. I get so much more by reading it. It has caused me to dig deeper and study more. As was brought out in last week's Bible Lesson -- Jesus loved little children because of their receptivity. I long to keep my receptivity and childlike thought. MyBibleLesson helps me do just that.

As an organist I never get to interact with our Sunday School pupils, but each Sunday while I play, I keep their willingness to learn in my thought and try to see that this willingness to learn is my God given right as well!

Thanks to the Bible Lesson committee and all those involved. What a wonderful blessing we have each day as we read and pray to start our day.

The KJV is no more difficult to read than Shakespeare. Culture isn't just a function of one's locale and race, time is also a huge factor in one's culture. Learning to read and understand older texts expands our horizons.

Agree. Although I'm in favor of reading lots of different translations of the Bible, I still enjoy the KJV. I think our culture has a tendency now to want to "dumb down" everything to make it more palatable and easier for people.
