Silly question

Just curious, what is the key to deciphering the little icons at the far left of the thread lists? I see red asterisks, green asterisks, red squares, grey squares, green thought balloons, and big orange folders. What do they all mean?

There is a legend at the very bottom of the page where you see the list of thread titles. Green asterisk indicates that a thread has new posts. Red is a "hot thread" with new posts. (I imagine a "hot thread" is one with a certain number of replies).
